Our Mission Statement:

Increase literacy rates of struggling children and families by getting books into the hands of children as early as birth.

Readers Ignite was founded by Carolyn Carrillo in 2012, after recognizing a need for a children’s literacy resources in the DuPage county and the greater Chicagoland area.

We have completed several book drives of over 20,000 books given to at-risk children, sponsored over 45 outreach events that connect kids to their role models and various special interests, and have helped to create libraries in four suburban schools which were previously lacking one.  Upcoming programs being worked on include Laundromat Storytimes, Books for Babies, Read to a Stuffie, and Books on the Ball.

We also are happy to provide needed reading resources to a variety of community events. We partner with many groups doing great work in their communities. if you have a literacy need, please contact us!
